Even though Cory Monteith is gone, his passion for acting lives on in ‘McCanick,’ a film he starred in before his tragic death.

After losing the 31-year-old actor to a mix of heroin and alcohol overdose just last month, the movie seems to hit closer to home than anyone could have ever imagined. Monteith portrayed Simon Weeks, a drug addicted criminal who was released from prison after a murder.

Director Josh C. Waller said Cory felt the need to take a trip down memory lane as he prepped for the role of an addict. “He was very vocal about his past, and said he wanted to tap into things from his youth that he hadn’t been able to use as an actor yet,” he told the L.A. Times.

The film is set to make its debut in Sept. at the Toronto Film Festival. As for his infamous role as Finn Hudson in Glee, episode three will be a tribute to him and his unfortunate passing which will be aired in Oct. “The third episode will write Finn out of the show,” FOX chief Kevin Reilly unveiled. “That episode will deal directly with the incidents involved with Cory’s passing and the drug abuse in particular.”

I’m seriously gutted as I sit here writing about Cory Monteith’s death, as is the rest of the world!

But after learning about all of this, I’m sure all Glee fans out there stopped to wonder how the 31-year-olds girlfriend is handling the situation.

According to,  Lea Michele was completely ‘devasted’ by the passing of the love of her life as you can only imagine.

But exactly how did she find out?

The website is reporting that Michele got word of Cory’s death through a simple phone call, leaving her completely stunned. A source claims, “Lea broke down in tears when she heard the news. Cory was her whole world. They’ve been through a lot together.”

Now the 26-year-old has come forward to PEOPLE Magazine with a few words… well her reps did at least:

“Lea is deeply grateful for all the love and support she’s received from family, friends, and fans. Since Cory’s passing, Lea has been grieving alongside his family and making appropriate arrangements with them.”

The most heartbreaking thing is the fact that Lea opened up to Marie Claire about her relationship with her co-star and how he makes her feel like ‘the luckiest girl.’

The one thing that is just breaking me into pieces is the fact that Lea professed her love for Cory in an interview with Marie Claire saying:

“I don’t even remember a time when he wasn’t my boyfriend. No one knows me better than Cory. No one knows what it’s been like to go through this more than he does. Feeling like you have that net underneath you allows you to jump higher and go farther. He makes me feel like I can do anything. For the first time in my life, I feel really, really settled and happy. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.”

Excuse me while I grab myself a kleenex. I can’t even imagine. I feel like this is just a nightmare the world is trying to wake up from.

RIP Cory Monteith!
