Justin Bieber met Canadian Prime Minister Harper on Friday, where he was awarded the Diamond Jubilee Medal before his performance in Ottawa. The prestigious award is given to those Canadians who have made amazing contributions to their native land.
But it wasn’t Biebers act of kindness that made headlines, yet his outfit of choice.
The 18-year-old free spirited pop sensation accepted his award in overalls, a backwards hat, and a t-shirt making it a definite ‘LOL’ moment. But after the look won him the title of ‘white trash’ by several reporters, the Biebs stood by his outfit of choice.
Just moments after the native Canadian posted a picture of himself with the Prime Minister, the Daily Mail was one who caught Justin’s attention when their article asked the infamous question, “Would a suit hurt, Justin?”
The ‘Beauty and a Beat’ singer quickly took to Instagram to defend his right to wear overalls saying in the caption:
“The pic of me and the Prime Minister was taken in a room in the arena where i was performing at that day. I walked straight from my meet and greet to him, if you ‘Hayley’ [the name of the Daily Mail reporter] expect me to have a change of clothes let [alone] a suit at that specific time that’s crazy. It wasn’t like it was like I was going into his environment we were at a hockey arena. Wow am i ever white trash hayley peterson lol.”
Harper defended Bieber’s overalls by laughing it off via Twitter saying, “In fairness to @justinbieber, I told him I would be wearing my overalls too. #cdnpoli #beliebers.”
