The battle of the British boy bands is in full swing right now and no I’m not talking about the very passionate One Direction and The Wanted fans. The boys themselves are bickering back and forth this time.
1D’s very own Louis Tomlinson decided to call out the guys from The Wanted by telling UK’s Now Magazine, ” “If you want to create rivalry, then let’s do it.”
“I want to speak openly about this because it’s quite frustrating,” Tomlinson confessed to the magazine. “I remember when I’d just done my first audition on The X Factor and I heard “All Time Low” for the first time. I thought it was a great song by a great band. We met them on the show and they were nice.”
So when did this feud actually begin?
Ever since the five guys from The Wanted made it big in the U.S. with their smash hit ‘Glad You Came,’ rumors of a massive competition between them and One Direction began to fuel. But it seems as though Harry, Liam, Niall, Zayn, and Louis are the ones who are taking it to heart.
“It changed all of a sudden,” Tomlinson added. “There was one press story where they were bad-mouthing us. I thought maybe that had been twisted. But then there ended up being about 10 stories and they’ve been caught on camera doing little things.”
Those ‘Little Things’ Tomlinson refers to is their rival group calling them ‘stereotypical.’ Back in August, Chris Moyles, from the Radio One Breakfast Show, labeled the ‘Live While We’re Young’ heartthrobs more successful, especially after they dominated practically every U.S. charts with their first album ‘Up All Night’ and taking home not one, not two, but THREE moon men at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards.
But Tom Parker from the Wanted fought back saying, “Our new single ‘I Found You’ is a bit different. We like to mix it up. We try not to be stereotypical.”
One Direction’s main ladies man, Harry Styles, said enough was enough and fired back on Twitter. “Chris Moyles’ is actually right though… If 1D aren’t in the picture, The Wanted would’ve been WAY more popular,’ he joked.
Then The Wanted singer, Max George, added even more fuel to the already burning fire in a recent interview with Fabulous Magazine, “We’re not the best of friends, so it’s not like we are going to go up and start hugging and kissing. And they make little comments in interviews when we’re mentioned. But they’re young, and that’s expected, and I laugh at it. If they’re taking it seriously, then maybe that’s just an age thing.”
